Will Smith Faces Being Banned From ‘Bad Boys 4’ After Oscars Smack

Studios reportedly want to access how badly the incident tarnishes Smith.

Will Smith has publicly apologized since smacking comedian Chris Rock on stage at the 2022 Oscars. But Studio executives remain hesitant, especially as Smith’s upcoming movie – the fourth installment of the Bad Boy Franchise, has now been halted by SONY due to the incident.

Industry sources have claimed that studios want to access how tarnished Smith’s reputation has become over slapping Rock before putting millions of dollars into upcoming projects.

Similarly, Netflix has also shown down production on its planned action thriller ‘Fast and Loose,’ which stars the 53-Year-Old Smith. The Men In Black Actor is also due to appear in Apple TV’s £90million slavery drama named Emancipation this autumn, but there has been no public suggestion he would be delayed.

Before the Oscars, Smith had been given 40 pages of scripts, and the Bad Boy 4 would have reunited him with Martin Lawrence as Miami drug cops.

Smith, who took exception to Rock’s joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head due to her alopecia condition, has recently announced his resignation from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, insisting he had betrayed its trust. One Academy member had stated: “Some of the members are saying Will jumped before he was pushed. The executives are still in utter disbelief at what happened.”

However, the Academy insisted it would continue to move forward with disciplinary proceedings.

On the other hand, in the film King Richard, Smith had won this year’s Best Actor award for his role as Richard Williams, the dad of tennis stars Venus and Serena. And due to the Oscars’ shame, he’s unlikely to be invited to announce the Best Actress award in 2023, a task performed in recent years by the outgoing Best Actor.
