New Fully-Automated McDonald’s Restaurant is Completely Run By Machines

A major debate has launched online after someone documented their experience at McDonald’s new fully-automated restaurant, located just outside Fort Worth, Texas. It uses advanced technology, so customers can order their food and receive it without having to interact with any humans. 

Most people are delighted about the new concept, but some find it a little creepy. 

TikToker @foodiemunster recently visited the restaurant, and his video showed the restaurant with no employees behind the counter, and near the entrances stood touch screens for people to place their orders on. “If you go inside, you’ll see it’s like no other McDonald’s you’ve been to before.” “There’s no kiosk to order your food.” 

Another part of the video showed the TikToker picking up his food at the drive-thru, but instead of a person handing him the meal, it was delivered on a mechanical conveyer belt.

@foodiemunster added: “You can go up front and pick it up there. It’s designed for you to go in and out. When you pull in [to the drive-thru] they will ask you for a code [ you got when ordering]. And in no time your food arrives. Got to say, it worked really well.” The food, as per The MailOnline is cooked by real people, but then you won’t be interacting with them at all. 

The creator’s video has gone viral, gaining over a million views in a matter of days and many shared their thoughts. 

Some people called it scary and revealed that it would put so many people out of work. 

However, the fast-food chain explained in a press release that the restaurant, which is now open, is geared towards customers who are planning to dine at home or on the go, therefore, there’s no seating inside the restaurant, and it’s considerably smaller than a traditional McDonald’s. It described the new concept as a fast and seamless experience for both customers and crew.

While the concept can only be found in one location, for now, it might be the future of all fast-food chains worldwide. 

The press release added: “We’re always innovating to improve our customer experience, no matter how they want to order or receive their food.” It also stated that it’s exciting to continue to test new ideas and innovations that can potentially benefit restaurant teams and customers around the world. Max Carmona, the company’s Senior Director of Global Design and Restaurant Development, claimed they’ve been setting the standard for drive-throughs for over 45 years. 

Carmona added that as customers’ needs continue to change, the company is committed to finding new ways to serve them faster and easier than ever before. 

Manager Keith Vanecek added: “The technology in this restaurant not only allows us to serve our customers in new, innovative ways, it also gives our restaurant team the ability to concentrate more on order speed and accuracy, which makes the experience more enjoyable for everyone.” However, you’ll agree there’s never been a McDonald’s restaurant quite like this before but do you think it’s a good idea?
