Julia Roberts Cooks Her Own, Takes Her Kids To School, Walks The Dogs, And Values A Simple Life
Julia isn’t like most people in Hollywood as she prefers to live life without social media.
The actress values a simple life more than an Oscar, living without social media or fans’ attention while enjoying a happy life as both a wife and a mom. Julia Roberts has had many highlights and accomplishments, including the title of the most beautiful woman in the world and the highest-paid actress. But she has since found an unglamorous life as rewarding.
Instead of loud applause and acting in front of the camera, Julia opted to be a jack-of-all-trades, mastering the sewing machine and enjoying her children’s laughter.
According to the actress, sewing has helped keep her brain firm, and she’s got exclusive pieces in her wardrobe. Just yesterday, Julia was a famous party girl and in the early 2000s, she was at the height of her fame, with a huge box office hit starring her, at least once a year. She enjoyed many fashion boutiques & luxury restaurants in Manhattan.
Her life completely changed when she met Daniel Moder.
For the cinematographer, Julia’s success wasn’t a problem. He fully embraced it, and as a result, conquered the heart of Hollywood beauty. In turn, the Pretty Woman star moved into his modest flat in Los Angeles. The actress was quickly drawn into the low-key life as on her wedding day shed the expensive designer dress and returned to guests in casual jeans and began cooking for them.
Guests said of Julia’s wedding: “It was just like a backyard barbecue at anybody’s home in America.”
As per the People, the couple’s friends embraced the spirit of low-key with Brue Willis playing the harmonica. By midnight, it’s alleged Julia turned on the disco and hit the dance floor. It’s no doubt an odd ceremony for Hollywood stars, but Julia and Daniel’s wedding was unarguably unique. Two years after tying the knot at 35, Julia became a mom.
She told eonline why she didn’t have children sooner, stating: “By the time we had kids, I had accomplished things and felt secure about that part of my life, I was so joyful moving into the family phase of my life in a sincere way.”
Not many actresses managed to get back on track after maternity. But for the mom, it was no threat as directors kept queuing up with offers to star in their films but Julia decided they could wait, fully immersing herself in motherhood. Even after her twins, the actress was in no hurry to return to work and even dreamt of retreating with her husband and kids to a ranch in New Mexico.
She also told the People: “I don’t need to seem cool and interesting and crazy and on the edge.” Julia got so involved in her motherly role, that three years later, she gave birth to another child.
One of the achievements Julia proudly shares about motherhood is “My kids think I’m a fantastic cook!” Accordingly, she considers herself more of a housewife than an actress and despite her eldest children being 18 and the youngest, being 15, the habit of being a homemaker has remained. Just as she cleans the kitchen after breakfast, she prepares lunch and before you know it, dinner is on the horizon.
Equally, Julia says, sometimes the whole family gets involved in the household chores turning the day into one big celebration.
The star shares her life philosophy using this example: “You don’t want to be spending time with your kids while having one eye on your phone. You want to be able to have undivided attention with them.” So far, Julia has built an unbreakable wall between her work and her kids by trying not to combine the two. And she only decided to become a mom when she realized she’d met the perfect partner for parenthood.
Julia and Daniel have never brought their young kids to the red carpet, not until 2021 that their then 17-year-old daughter appeared with her father at the Cannes Film Festival.
Today, more than 20 years later, the couple has shown to be a truly cohesive team. And yet, at times, like any mom, the actress is often haunted by the question: “Sometimes, I get gripped with fear of blowing it. And sometimes, I’ve just said to my kids, ‘so today, me as a mom? Can we just take that off the board because I blew it. And you must admit it, it’s great to have someone around who will say, ‘you’re doing everything right.”
However, Julia in her relationships before Daniel had been repeatedly burned due to her popularity. Men never want to be in her shadow.
