Halle Berry Responds To Furious Twitter User Mistook Her For ‘The Little Mermaid’ Star Halle Bailey
“Halle Berry is nearly 60 playing the role of a 16-Year-Old girl.”
Academy Award-winning actor, Halle Berry, has been mistaken for the star of the upcoming Little Mermaid Live action movie Halle Bailey. As the trailer dropped, many applauded Disney, but some expressed anger as they had thought the 56-Year-Old would be playing Ariel.
The tweets [pictured below] flooded in, but one caught the attention of Berry herself.
The tweet, since deleted, read: “Halle Berry is nearly 60 playing the role of a 16-Year-Old girl. This is what happens when you upset a fandom.” You’ll possibly agree Berry would have done an amazing job with the role but certainly not in this world we are presently in.
A screenshot of the likes-to-dislike ratio for The Little Mermaid teaser on YouTube also accompanied the tweet.
In response, Berry posted a meme of a fellow Oscar winner Mo’Nique from VH1’S Charm School [pictured below] reality TV series. The three women in the image appeared to be uninterested and perhaps confused. This isn’t Berry’s first response to trolls who thought she was playing Ariel.
In a Dec. 2021 tweet, someone tweeted: “Can’t wait to see you under da sea!” Berry replied: “Wrong, Halle, lol. I can’t wait to see her too, though!”
Disney plans to release the new version of the Little Mermaid on May 26, 2023. And in addition to Halle Bailey, the cast includes Javier Bardem as King Triton, Jonah Hauer-King as Eric, Daveed Diggs as Sebastian, Awkwafina as Scuttle, and Melissa McCarthy as Ursula. However, both Berry and Bailey seem to be on pleasant terms.
