‘Gender Is Whatever’: Reese Witherspoon’s Daughter Ava Reveals About Her Sexuality
Attracted to people, not gender!
More people continue to share with the world their perspectives when it comes to sexuality, and it turns out Reese Witherspoon’s lookalike daughter Ava Phillippe is no exception. The 22-Year-Old recently got candid about her love life during a fan Q&A session on Instagram.
Reese Witherspoon’s daughter Ava Phillippe, 22, has spoken about her sexuality.
She responded to questions from fans on her Instagram page when the revelation emerged.
A fan asked whether or not she liked boys or girls, and she responded with: “I’m attracted to people! (Gender is whatever).” However, this response has garnered some nasty reactions – people have since flooded the comment of her random photos to share their hurtful and biased opinions about the subject matter.
A fan asked ‘do you like boys or girls,’ to which the aspiring model replied: ‘I’m attracted to… people!”
She added: “(Gender is whatever).”
Currently attending UC Berkeley, Ava is the oldest of two children, shared by Witherspoon and Phillippe.
But Ava is not having it as she has shut down any of the trolls who were trying to make her feel bad. She hit back, saying: “Quick reminder: I can & will block profiles commenting bigoted/hateful messages under my posts. My Instagram profile is not a place for cruelty/hate speech & I intend to do what I can to keep it that way. Peace & love.”
She had shared her relationship with Own Mahoney, but they were last seen together in the summer.
Reese, 45, had admitted she ‘didn’t understand what homosexuality was’ until she moved to Los Angeles.
Her mom Witherspoon remains one of the biggest stars in the world, known for her romantic comedies and TV dramas. She had recently opened up about how she was raised and how she could use that to her advantage in her show Big Little Lies, which tackles current social issues that people face daily.
The actress made the revelation during a virtual interview with Watchmen star Regina King.
“My grandparents didn’t explain it. My parents didn’t explain it. I had to learn from somebody I met on an audition in Los Angeles.”
Speaking with Regina King for Variety’s Actors on Actors series, she opened up that she didn’t know much about social issues when she was growing up. “That great experience of being able to look at a time that was actually 30 years ago and think: ‘I was a teenager then,” Witherspoon said.
Reese pictured with daughter Ava really didn’t know much about social issues when she was growing up.
But as it appears, Ava is now growing up with a mom with a different mindset and at a very different time.
She added: “What did my mom say about sexuality, race, class?” What were the things that I was told that maybe were true or not true? How was I insensitive? I didn’t understand what homosexuality was. My grandparents didn’t explain it. My parents didn’t explain it. I had to learn from somebody I met on an audition in Los Angeles.”
