Demi Lovato has declared the word ‘alien’ is a derogatory term and that ‘ET’ should be used instead. The singer, who came out as a non-binary in May, using them/they pronouns, insisted it’s offensive to extraterrestrials. In an interview with PEDESTRIANtv, Lovato also demanded that we have to stop calling them aliens.

“I think we have to stop calling them aliens because aliens is a derogatory term for anything. That’s why I like to call them ETs! So yeah, that’s a little tidbit. A little information that I learned.” Lovato stated. While it is unknown where the popstar gleaned the information, they’ve spoken to bosses at Peacock, as in the show’s official description, where they were referred to as aliens. 

“I think that we have to stop calling them aliens because aliens is a derogatory term for anything,” they urged.

However, the star is presently promoting their new show titled Unidentified with Demi Lovato, where the singer takes a road trip in search of UFO in the Peacock Original Series. During an interview, the editor had reportedly put in a note that ‘As per Demi’s guidance, they’ve refrained from using the A-word in articles as it’s an offensive term, no matter who’s directing it. 

In this Peacock Original series, the singer takes a road trip to find a UFO with BFF Mathew and sister Dallas.

However, it is unknown where Lovato gleaned the ‘little information’ from.

In particular, the term being offensive emerged when asked what some of the biggest misconceptions about aliens are. The singer then responded: “I think the ones that bother me are they’re harmful or that they’ll come and take over the planet.” In September, Lovato appeared on The Kyle and Jackie O Show to speak about their docu-series.

The singer told radio host Kyle Sandilands that they believe aliens are peaceful beings. Nonetheless, Unidentified with Demi Lovato follows the star, their skeptical BFF Mathew, and sister Dallas as they search for the truth about the UFO phenomenon. Each episode will feature Demi and their loved ones gaining insights into the reality behind extraterrestrials.
