Camila Cabello Calls Out Paparazzi For Her Bikini Pics That Make Her Feel Self-Consciousness
It’s a good step to shutting out societal expectations about women’s beauty.
Rocking a swimsuit in public for a celebrity seems to be daunting. Camila Cabello has recently experienced this, and thankfully, she has chosen to address it. Taking to Instagram, Cabello complained she’s often photographed at the beach in Miami, which implies she’s highly conscious of how she looks.
Enough is enough: The pop star slammed the paparazzi for intruding, especially because when their photos showed up online, she had to endure body-shaming comments.
The 25-Year-Old has undeniably let her vulnerability show as it relates to her body and the pressure she feels always to put on a good show. In her lengthy post, she wrote, in part: “I’ve worn bikinis that were (too) small and paid no mind to how I looked, then saw pictures online and comments and been so upset. I reminded myself when it impacted myself esteem that I was thinking the culture’s thoughts and not my own.”
She added: “A culture who has gotten so used to an image of what a healthy woman’s body looks like that is completely not real for a lot of women.”
Cabello then described the photos pictured below, explaining that she made sure not to eat anything too heavy while sucking in her core nonstop, knowing it would turn into a full-blow photoshoot thanks to the paps on hand. To the pop star, it remains a miserable way to love, and she says she struggles with feeling like she has to portray herself in an image she thinks is BS via beauty standards projected on to her by society.
The Fifth Harmony songstress concluded her message by telling fans that her goal was to “get back to feeling like 7-year-old me on the beach who was happy, silly, breathing, pretending to be a mermaid, FREE.”
She also stated: “I’ve never had a worse time at the beach. I’m not yet at the point in my journey where I cannot give a f**k.” In the comments, Cabello’s fans and friends were quick to flood her with words of love and support as fellow singer Kesha, 35, wrote: “Ur a f***ing queen and are perfect. I also relate my love, the patriarchy wins when we starve ourselves and for who? NAH. Thank u for the honesty.”
