His first leading role in nearly ten years.

The nineties heartthrob, Brendan Fraser, has returned to Hollywood and for his first film’ he’s seen physically transformed into a 600lb recluse to play the role of a man living with obesity and struggling to reconnect with his daughter. The film, an adaptation of the Whale by Samuel D. Hunter, will have its world premiere at the 2022 Venice Film Festival, but no release date has been set as of yet.

This is set to be Brendan’s first leading role in nearly ten years, after his 2013 direct-to-DVD action film Breakout.

Brendan added: “The wardrobe and costume were extensive, seamless, and cumbersome. This is certainly far removed from anything I’ve ever done but not to be coy…I do know it’s going to make a lasting impression.” As seen, the 53-Year-Old looks worlds away in the new film from what his fans remember him as in Encino Man and Killers of the Flower Moon.

Besides, it hasn’t always been an easy road for the actor, who in 2018 opened up about how a sexual assault by an influential Hollywood figure and years of doing his stunts destroyed his movie career. Several factors, including a failing marriage, a list of health, and a spiral into depression, contributed to his steady decline in acting roles. His stunts resulted in injuries, which needed a lumber laminectomy and being in and out of hospital for almost seven years.
