Bird Owner Draws 30 Comics About Parrot And Its Hilarious

The internet is filled with animal comics of precisely dogs and cats. But birds don’t often get the limelight and that’s what Sarah’s comics titled ‘Chicken Thoughts’ has come to address. Hinged on her pets’ hilarious behavior, the 25-year-old perfectly captures the nuances of living with companion parrots.

Owning three birds – a chicken, a Blue Boy parrot, and a White Boy parrot, the Texas-based launched a whole series for the trio and now the internet can’t just get enough of them. With playful scenarios, Sarah perfectly sums up what it’s like to have a parrot while also showcasing the joys and struggles of living with it.

Interestingly, the artist plans on unveiling her book: Chicken Thoughts: Comics About Birds on the 1st of November 2020 and it’s readily available to pre-order. ‘The storylines are told from the chicken’s viewpoint with humans mostly off the screen. I really do love how intelligent and illogical birds can be.’ Sarah told BoredPanda.

The self-taught artist has been illustrating with best friend Jacky since age 11, drawing cartoons about themselves/classmates and showing one another. Sarah’s earliest inspiration was Calvin and Hobbes but currently a huge fan of other bird cartoonists including Its Birb Thing, A Budgie’s Life, and Potatopato.

She added: ‘The birds act much like their comic characters. They are permitted to roam around the house and hang around me and my boyfriend grooming, requesting for food and getting head scritches.’ Nevertheless, artist Sarah hopes that her comics are enjoyed by people who don’t own birds while also campaigning that people should appreciate birds as well.
