“I Went To High School With Taylor Swift, People Hated Her”
It’s believed that most of Taylor Swift’s lyrics are shots aimed at people who did her wrong.
Jessica McLane has claimed people hated Taylor Swift in high school. It emerged as fans analyze the lyrics to the singer’s 10th studio album, ‘Midnights,’ figuring out whom they could be about. 32-Year-Old McLane started her TikTok video by saying she wanted to issue an apology for not knowing much about Swift.
She then alleged that though they had attended Hendersonville High School in Tennessee, she had just gotten into Taylor Swift.
“I went to the same high school as Taylor Swift; we grew up in the same town,” the TikToker said. “In 2006, I was a freshman in high school. Taylor is, I think, a junior. ‘Teardrops on my Guitar’ had just come out, I think, over the summer. She got big, and that’s the year that she left school and got homeschooled.”
McLane explained that people at the time spread rumors about how Swift got her hit in music, claiming she bought her fame.
“She was literally 16, 17, leaving high school to pursue a career that people were telling her that she could never have. Also, the guys she was writing these songs about were still in school. They were still there. And now they have a hit song about them talking about what a s**tty boyfriend they are.”
With Swift becoming super successful, McLane alleged most of her classmates and peers hated her.

She continued: “But the fact remains that there were not a lot of people in high school who had nice things to say about her.” In another video, McLane pointed out that jealousy was a thing when it came to why people didn’t like the pop star, especially as the young people trying a career in music were performing in downtown Nashville or local coffee shops and not getting famous.
The TikToker also pointed out that while she didn’t know Swift personally, she was friends with people from her class.
Someone in the comment alleged that McLane didn’t provide any evidence for her claims, and in response, she posted a video showing off her yearbooks: a 2006-2007 yearbook from Henderson High School [the freshman year] and a 2009-2010 yearbook which would have been Swift senior year, about the period she reportedly went to the CMAs.
McLane explains that she didn’t show Swift in the yearbook because she started homeschooling and dropped out before picture day.
The TikToker eventually posted another video showing she did find the pop star in a photo collage. McLane further claimed that in 2009, during her senior in high school – the Fearless singer had invited the entire class to the Country Music Association Awards. She showed off a booklet and her ticket from the CMAs as proof to back up her claims.
McLane said of the event: “Her [referring to Swift at CMAs] performances were incredible.”

She added: “When I found out that we were going, we were all excited. I mean, who gets invited by Taylor swift to the CMAs? That’s cool. But it was very random. Like, we didn’t know why Taylor Swift was inviting us to the CMAs.” However, the year at the CMAs, Swift broke history as the youngest artist to receive the entertainer of the year award at 19.
The pop star also won titles of the female vocalist of the year, music video of the year for Love Story, and album of the year for Fearless.
McLane continued: “It’s 2022, Taylor Swift announces ‘Midnights,’ right? It’s going to be released on Kim Kardashian’s birthday. That’s when I start realizing Taylor’s a petty b**ch.” Swift’s music video for ‘Bad Blood is believed to be about her mended fallout with Katy Perry. Now, her song Vigilante S**t on the Midnight album is suspected to be about her old manager Scooter Braun.
