Woman Who Never Wants Kids Says Gynecologist Refused To Get Her Tubes Tied Because She ‘Might Meet Mr. Right’
“It’s not in my five-year plan, it’s not in my ten-year plan, my fifty year plan. I don’t want that.”
Olivia never wants to have children, and just as she approached her gynecologist to have her tubes tied, the request was denied because of her age, and perhaps she might meet Mr. Right and then regret her decision. The conversation with the gynecologist about tubal litigation, a procedure for female sterilization, was shared on TikTok by the 22-Year-Old, which has since gone viral.
Instead of having her tubes tied, it was suggested the Massachusetts-based try an IUD.
The TikTok clip began: “Hi, Mrs. Gynecologist! My name is Olivia. I never want children. I’ve had this made up in my mind since I was old enough to think of the concept. Can I please have my tubes tied? In response, the gynecologist said: “No, it’s permanent.” Olivia replied: “Yeah, I know. That’s why I asked. I’d like that option.”
But the gynecologist argued: “Well, no. You might meet Mr. Right and change your mind.”

Olivia went on, insisting she doesn’t want children. “It’s not my plan. It’s not in my five-year plan; it’s not in my ten-year plan, my fifty-year plan. I don’t want that.’ At this point, the gynecologist offered: “Yeah, but you might change your mind, and it’s permanent, so here’s a brochure for an IUD. It has the same efficacy rate. We put it in your universe, and you bleed and cramp for three months.”
Making a face, Olivia responded: “No. No, thank you.”
Notably, Tubal ligation or getting one’s tubes tied involves the fallopian tubes being either cut, tied, clamped, banded or sealed off with an electric current to permanently prevent pregnancy. So far, Oliva’s video has been watched over 1.9million times and has garnered comments, with many outraged on her behalf.
One person asked: “How do you just leave after this? I can’t imagine a doctor denying my request just because they said so? It hurt my brain; please keep pushing it!”
Another wrote: “People need to understand NOT wanting kids! A third noted: “Mr. Right is someone who also doesn’t want kids how hard is that to understand.” In another clip, Olivia elaborated on her decision, responding to viewers’ comments. She explained that since she was about three years old, she had always said she didn’t want to have children, but older women often get offended when they hear her say that.
Olivia imitated how they insisted she would change her mind when the right person comes along. In another clip, she shared she’s not currently s*xually active but wants to make sure she won’t get pregnant in the future.
She also revealed her future partner might have to get a vasectomy, which men seem more likely to get approved for at a young age. As with the commenters who sided with the doctor, Olivia argued she could always adopt a child if that happened. She also clapped back at the number of men who weighed in on her decision, including a guy who told her that humans are meant to breed.
She stressed that women are more than just incubators and that she has the life and career she wants to pursue.
She concluded that a man would also be the last person she would take advice from when it comes to her body and her decision not to have children. In a more recent video, she admitted she knew her doctor would tell her no the minute she brought the request up, but she wants it on file that she has been asking to be sterilized.
