Woman’s Gran Taught Her How To Get Too-Tight Jeans To Fit & It’s Awesome

Getting out of the pandemic got us like over half the wardrobe’s jeans not fitting in anymore. Or maybe you love thrifting, but it always pains you to see a pair of jeans in a size that you can never fit in. But today, you’re going to learn a fashion life hack you will embrace for a long time.
Lily Schoknecht found herself a size 10 pair of jeans and she knew she was size 12 but decided to get them anyway.
Well, the bargain deal appeared to be a loss because the size 10 really didn’t fit, and she told her grandma about it. She then asked her, “Have you showered in them yet?”
“I was like ‘what,’ no. I haven’t showered in my jeans; what are you talking about?” she replied in disbelief. But her nana insisted she hops into the shower with warm temperature in them and to trust her.
“She was like, ‘just trust me, shower in them, wear them around the house, stretch them out a little bit, and then let them air dry and don’t put them in the dryer again’.”
To her surprise, her “desperation” resulted in the jeans finally becoming a fit size for her. Lily shared the trick from her nana with fellow TikTok users, and it had quickly gone viral with over 3.7 million views. Since then, Lily has been answering questions such as whether they shrink again if put in washers or if it works with shrinking pants that are too big.
She has also done a reveal of her grandma, who shared the trick! Such an adorable duo!
Users were funnily sharing how they’re in a dilemma between the sensory issues of being in damp jeans to finally being able to wear their jeans that were always too small. One wrote, “My sensory issues are strong, but my desire to fit the thrifted jeans in the back of my closet is stronger.”
“So this is how the sisterhood of the traveling pants worked,” wrote another hilariously.
When asked how this trick came to be, many older generations explained in the comment how they used to do this with their Levi’s 501s.
“Lol used to do this in HS with Levi’s 501 shrink-to-fit jeans. Sat in the warm/hot bathtub wearing my jeans to get that custom fit!” recalled one user.
Lily also shared that her nana used to do this with her sister for their jeans, so maybe if you have some 100% cotton jeans lying around because they’ve been too tiny for you to fit in, you should definitely try this hack!
