WNBA All-Star Brittney Griner’s Wife Calls For Her Safe Return From Moscow

“I love my wife wholeheartedly, so this message comes during one of the weakest moments of my life.”

Cherelle Griner finally speaks up about the detention her WNBA All-Star wife is going through in Russia. Brittney Griner is under drug charges after the Russian Federal Customs Service declares there are “cannabis oil” vape cartridges in her possession.

The 31-year-old star player’s wife shares her feelings on Instagram.

“Thank you to everyone who has reached out to me regarding my wife’s safe return from Russia. Your prayers and support are greatly appreciated,” wrote the woman.

“I love my wife wholeheartedly, so this message comes during one of the weakest moments of my life. I understand that many of you have grown to love BG over the years and have concerns and want details. Please honor our privacy as we continue to work on getting my wife home safely. Thank you!”

Brittney won the WNBA championship in 2014 with the Phoenix Mercury team. She also played for the Russian team during the off-season.

She could be facing up to 10 years of sentence in Russia if she is convicted for drug smuggling. The two-time Olympic champion allegedly was carrying “cannabis oil” and had been detained as a “preventative measure.”

Details surrounding her situation in Russia are currently unclear.
