A wedding guest in New York City got slammed by a photographer who told her off for her dress. The influencer was called out because her champagne gold dress “photographs off white.”
Her hard take sparked off a debate between people who think the dress was poor etiquette and those who could not see how it’s anything close to white.
Erika Wheaton was wearing a strapless, gold satin Bec & Bridge dress as she twirled and hugged her partner while attention a wedding in New York. Her video went viral when several people thought the clothing was too light-colored, particularly when someone who works for brides spoke up about it.
“Your dress photographs off white. Be delusional, sweetie. You’re lucky your bride was more laidback than most.”
Bewildered by the accusations, Erika decided to share more pictures from different angles, lighting, and even next to the bride in her white wedding dress. But one of the viewers told her, “Ur lucky the bride was so relaxed abt it, I’d crack.”
“As a southern woman, I WOULD NEVER my grandma would clutch her pearls. Way too close to white and bridal for a wedding,” wrote another.
“That will photograph white. How incredibly disrespectful,” added another.

But some people saw that her dress looked very different from the white wedding dress in this picture and came to her defense.
Her story got so viral that she decided to speak with a news outlet and insisted that she never intended to upstage anyone with the dress.
She told them, “Never did I ever think this dress was inappropriate for a wedding. I could not imagine wearing a white dress on someone else’s day and this dress, simply, is not white.”
Wheaton called the dress “simple, elegant, and timeless.”
