VidCon 2020 Has Been Cancelled As Precautions Against Pandemic

In an effort to curb the spread of the disease.

The annual VidCon has been cancelled three months in advance due to the pandemic that has ordered for social distancing and restrictions in the huge gathering. Originally schedule to be held on June 17-20, it’s now cancelled and possibly postponed until this fall.

“We were so excited about the 11th annual VidCon US, but our number one priority is always the safety and health of our attendees, sponsors, speakers, creators, and staff,” wrote General Manager of VidCon, Jim Louderback in a statement.

The annual event was held for social media influencers and content creators to gather together and this year, it’s to be held in Anaheim, California. The event was also having Coyote Peterson, Adam Waheed, and James Charles in their gathering.

“Unfortunately, due to the continued uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, and the precautions being taken by authorities worldwide to manage this pandemic, we have come to the difficult decision to cancel VidCon this June.”

The statement continued, “We are working hard to bring you a VidCon US experience this fall, and will keep you posted as those details come together. Don’t worry; it will still be an amazing event that you won’t want to miss!”

VidCon is just one among a dozen high-profile events that have been cancelled. Apple planned to go on with their event in a full online-format while Google I/O has completely cancelled theirs. Most events have announced they’ll be postponed at least until fall if they are doing it at all this year.
