Yeah, that IS a grammar mistake we were willing to risk on our title because that is what exactly this person commented. We really don’t want to assume a person’s gender, but this person may have thought that women shouldn’t be superior enough to be captain.
‘How can you be a captain? Your only a woman’ wrote this user which is now deleted.
“It’s about high time I address this,” Captain Kate said in her video. “It’s 2020, and in this day and age, I’m shocked.”
“That someone still doesn’t know the difference between ‘your’ and ‘you’re’.”
“A quick reference, ‘you’re’ as in you are, like you are sexist. Your is something possessive, it belongs to you,” our Captain enthusiastically explained. “Like, your ignorance.”
“But don’t worry, I’m here for you. If you need more clarification, you can find me here…”
“In my captain’s chair.”
But thanks to that, we see such an epic clap back by this queen.
Captain Kate has more than 314k followers on TikTok and 177k followers on Instagram. She has become quite the celebrity as she often shares her journey through different seas and countries. She once explained that she won’t give this job for anything else – going out to the sea is different every day and time.
So, no, people, being sexist isn’t trendy anymore. It just means you’re a very awful person with a bad sense of humor if you want to say it was just a joke.
