The former Countdown host has alleged she won’t let doctors tell her what she weighs when she has a medical checkup, as she shared an insight into her diet while admitting she doesn’t cook at home. Carol Vordermanclaims she is unbothered about what she eats when she goes out as she tucks into her favorite meals, including pasta, fish, and chips.
Speaking on the Table Manners podcast, Carol told host hosts Jessie and Lennie Ware what was in her fridge: stating “Lots of vegetables, a bit of coleslaw, fish, turmeric shots, which I love, fruit, Greek yoghurt, cottage cheese.” She then added: “If I go and stay in other people’s houses, I’m always amazed at what they’ve got in the fridge. But I don’t cook at home now you see.”
She continued: “When I go out, I’ll eat what I want. I don’t feel in denial at all. So, when I go out, I’ll have what I like. Good pasta I love. I don’t like sloppy pasta. I love butter. I love fish and chips, nice fish and chips, I don’t like French fries – proper old-fashioned big chips.”
“Go back to my thirties, and my husband Paddy who I loved and adored, we loved pasta and all of that, but I was working really hard and I just got to the point where I was eating just to stay alive, stay awake. And I put on a bit of weight and I didn’t like that. So, I started this detox diet. It was slated by nutritionists at the time because it was 28 days detox diet. No meat, no wheat, no dairy, no sugar, for 28 days,” Carol said on the podcast.
She further stated: “Then it was all ‘no, you can’t do that’. Now it’s like standard. This was for 28 days to sort of give all your organs a way of naturally detoxing. (I was) super high on veggies, not potatoes. I won’t buy normal potatoes because of the detox – changed everything I bought.”
“After the detox diet, I haven’t weighed myself since 1999 – don’t know what I weigh. I won’t let anyone tell me what I weigh – you know when you go for medicals. And by and large, when I’m home, I eat quite well. But if somebody’s bought me chocolates or whatever it might be, I’ll just find I’ll just eat them before I’ll go to the vegetables so I can’t have it in the house. ‘I’m very happy – that’s all I’ve known for 20 years.”
The comments come before Carol’s stint in South Africa for I’m A Celebrity All-Stars later this year.
According to DailyMail, she was the 8th celebrity to be voted off 2016’s series, lasting 18 days in the Australian jungle alongside winner Scarlett Moffatt after entertaining viewers with her flirty banter and jungle showers. Of her return, Carol had said: “Doing I’m A Celebrity changed me a lot and I can’t wait to take part in this new series. I loved everything about I’m A Celebrity [the first time round]. We’ve still got a WhatsApp group.”
However, Carol often shares her fitness regime on Instagram. In a recent video, the presenter looked gorgeous as she flaunted her toned stomach in a sports crop top and skintight leggings while lifting weights and stretching. Carol could also be seen doing squats and working up a sweat in a gym on the equipment. The post had been captioned: “OFF TO GYM AGAIN TOMOZ.” She’s no doubt an inspiration and her figure remains enviable.
