Traveler Reveals Realities Behind ‘Perfect’ Instagram Pics By Flaunting Curves
The gypsie discourages people from being so hung up on social media images.
It’s so easy to fall prey to the things media showed when you didn’t know better. But many have taken to social media to reveal that those perfect figures on social media aren’t everything. Danielle Jo Lee, a Romany traveler, used her platform to expose a common trick influencers use in their pictures.
The 23-year-old was praised for being honest with her curves and body.
She showed what she looks like to her 48.7k followers on TikTok in a baby blue dress. “Don’t let these Instagram models fool you; it’s all fake,” she wrote in her caption.
She stepped back from the camera to show her natural figure. She showed her belly, then sucked it in.
“It’s all for social media and photoshopped,” she continued. The distinction between when she strikes a pose sucked her belly in, and just facing straight to the camera while pinching her stomach was clear.
“Be proud of your imperfections and love yourself; you’re beautiful,” the video’s caption continued as she finished with a funny pose to ‘Scars to Your Beautiful’ by Alessia Cara.
Danielle opens up to Daily Star that she’s a body positivity advocate as someone who suffers from low self-esteem for the same reason she wrote in the video.
“I felt all my teenage years that I wasn’t enough due to the fact I had compared myself to others. Asking myself, ‘Why don’t I look like that?’ But I think to myself now, which I highly agree with, every single person is beautiful in their own ways.”
“Whether it’s a size six or size 14, I think we should all be confident within ourselves and help out each other.”
“Have you ever been in a girl’s bathroom at a club, and all the girls are complimenting each other? ‘I absolutely love your dress’, ‘Your makeup is stunning!’ That’s the way we should be towards each other all the time! You shouldn’t have to dim someone else’s light to think it makes yours shine brighter.”
It’s easy to create a personality that is not really you on social media, and Danielle nods to this. She commented that many individuals might be hiding “ugly personalities” behind their perfect pictures on social media.
“People wouldn’t post a photo of them on their accounts looking how we are right now; they only post what they want you to see.”
Love yourself, not the split-second pose of a stranger strike for social media!
