Trans Man Reveals How He Fell Pregnant While Transitioning After Having A One-Night Stand
Wants more children before full s*x reassignment.
Ash Patrick Schade had been transitioning for two years and taking testosterone and estrogen blockers when he realized he was pregnant, following a one-night stand with a man. It never occurred to the 28-Year-Old he could get pregnant as it was such a rare occurrence. Instantly, the mental health worker stopped his hormone treatment to carry the child.
Ash Schade who fell pregnant from a one-night stand is adjusting to life as a “parent” after having a baby girl.
The 28-Year-Old 28, had spent two years transitioning before finding out he was pregnant in February 2020.
He was even on testosterone and estrogen blockers and thought that would prevent pregnancy.
A month later, the Ph.D. Student met his now-husband Jordan, 28, and together, they welcomed Daughter Ronan in October 2020. The pair are raising Ronan [now 1] together, and Ash, who underwent top surgery to remove his breasts after the birth, said he’s holding off on having full gender reassignment to have more children.
But after finding out he was pregnant, he paused treatments to carry his daughter, Ronan Shiva, now one.
Schade had struggled with his gender identity for as long as he could remember but then he’s now ever-prepared to start a family of his own.
“I was going through a rough time from 2019 and 2020 and struggled with my mental health due to going through a divorce. I ended up going on Grindr hook-ups and accidentally fell pregnant. It was a huge shock, but I fell in love with my bump and pushed through the pregnancy, despite struggling with the dysphoria and medical risks.” Schade told Daily Mail.
At the moment, the mental health worker now co-parents Ronan with his husband Jordan, 28.
During his pregnancy, Schade had difficulty as he often found a medical staff that didn’t understand his situation.
He added he felt like he was in the wrong body for as long as he could remember and had even been sent to conversion therapy by his parents as a child, hoping it would fix him. As a boy at school, Schade explained he had hidden his b**bs and frequently wore dark gothic clothes to hide how he looked. Not until one day, his mom sent him to school in a pink two-piece for picture day, and there his teachers loudly declared he was a girl called Ashley.
But despite the struggles, Schade found comfort in his husband & the online LBGTQI+ community.
Schade had feared his mental health might take a turn for the worse when he realized the pregnancy.
He continued: “I went from popular to a nobody overnight, with my then girlfriend’s mum calling my mum to “keep that gay slur of a child from my daughter” I had a horrible childhood and am a suicide attempt survivor from gender dysphoria and trauma I went through.” In particular, Ash started transitioning in 2018.
However, the dad-of-one is looking forward to telling Ronan how she was born as she grows up.
Schade also enjoys educating members of the public when they ask about Ronan’s mom.
Bringing life into the world as a seahorse parent was an incredible one, Schade, who has since credited the support of his friends, the online gay and trans community, and the Satanic Temple, of which he’s a member. However, he’s looking forward to telling Ronan how she was born as she grows up, especially that trans men can have babies.
“I want to be honest and open with Ronan the whole way, and explain to her that trans men can have babies.”
