Surfer Bethany Hamilton Shares How She Cares For Her Three Kids With One Arm
She’s such an inspiration.
Bethany Hamilton is a Surfer, and she had lost her left arm in a shark attack when she was 13. Now at 31-Year-Old, Hamilton is married to husband Adam Dirks and a mom-of-three. Giving insights into her parenting world, Hamilton recently took to Instagram and shared that she uses her feet to change her two-month son, Micah’s diaper.

Micah is Hamilton’s youngest son and was welcomed into the family in February 2021. “I’m raising our third son, so the tricks and adaptations are getting better with each child. When they are this young and have the wobbly head and need constant attention, nursing, diaper changes, tummy soothing, lots of sleep and of course smiles, kisses and more.” Hamilton wrote.
Recently, Hamilton shared tricks for raising her kids, and it includes using her feet to change Micah’s diaper.
“I’m raising our third son, so the tricks and adaptations are getting better with each child.”
She added: “I use my feet to help with diaper changing, lots of pillows with nursing, a baby carrier throughout the day, and tricky styles of holding to keep baby’s head up. Sometimes it can get frustrating, but I gotta keep moving forward, have Lil breaks and keep it positive. Plus, I remember I’ve done it before. And as a family, we make it work!”

Alongside the honest post, she uploaded a pic of herself holding a laughing Mica with one arm while staring down at him with love. She concluded the post: “Loving our Lil Micah and looking forward to more life with him! Cheering on all you mommas out there grinding, loving, and doing your best! However, while surfing off the coast of the Hawaiian Island of Kauai in 2003, Hamilton was attacked by a shark. She lost an arm as well as 60% of the blood in her body. But despite the shortcoming, it didn’t affect her dreams, and indeed she competed professionally for four years in 2007.

On the other hand, Hamilton’s story became an inspiration to many, having written it in the book titled: “Soul Surfer: A True Story of Faith, Family and Fighting to Get Back on the Board.” Likewise, in 2010, Hamilton was the twentieth-ranked woman among surfers and had placed first in at least eight different surfing competitions in her career.
