Petition To Remove Amber Heard From ‘Aquaman 2’ Has Reached 2.3 Million Signatures
“Men are victims of domestic abuse, just like women.”
A petition asking for Amber Heard to be removed from DC’s ‘Aquaman’ second installment has reached over 2 million signatures. The petition, which began three years ago when the issue between the former celebrity couple began to be exposed to the public, has received traction again since the defamation public lawsuit went viral.
The petition was started by Jeanne Larson, a writer who’s continued to call out the actress for being the ambassador and model for other brands. She wrote, “Men are victims of domestic abuse, just like women. This must be recognized, and action must be taken to prevent a known abuser from being celebrated within the entertainment industry.”
“Do the right thing. Remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2.”
Johnny Depp has been dropped from several of his roles after alleged abuse accusations were made against him. In a Washington Post op-ed by Amber Heard, who claimed that she was an abuse survivor, despite Depp’s name not being mentioned, he received backlashes from the post.
Depp wouldn’t go back to his role as Captain Jack Sparrow now, even if Disney was to offer him “$100 million and a hundred alpacas.” He added that the moment the allegations were made public, he’s lost and “will carry that for the rest of” his days, doesn’t matter the result of the trial.
“Two years had gone by of constant worldwide talk about me being this wife beater. So I’m sure that Disney was trying to cut ties to be safe. The #MeToo movement was in full swing at that point,” the man had mentioned in the court.
The petition has been updated as the situation continues to evolve. Larson wrote, “Amber Heard has been exposed as a domestic abuser by Johnny Depp.”
“In his lawsuit, Johnny Depp describes many incidents of domestic abuse that he suffered at the hands of his (then) wife Amber Heard, including one incident where she punched him twice in the face and another where she shattered his finger with a vodka bottle, and his finger had to be surgically reattached.”
“They must not ignore the suffering of Heard’s victims, and must not glamorize a domestic abuser.”
“He will bear the scar from that for the rest of his life.”
“Also, Amber Heard was arrested in 2009 for abusing a former domestic partner, Tasya Van Ree, demonstrating a repeated pattern of abuse by Amber Heard.”
The court continued on its second week as witnesses such as Romero, the doorman, and Depp’s bodyguard Malcolm Connoly gave their testimonies.
