Mysterious Cloud Over Alaska Sparks Fears Of A UFO Crash Or Weapon Tests
It’s said to be contrail from a commercial jet.
Pictures of a strange, worm-like cloud over Alaska’s Lazy Mountain have sparked debate online. Many people questioned whether it could be a meteor, a crashed UFO or satellite, an eruption, or even a Russian weapon associated with the conflict in Ukraine. The photos were shared on Facebook and indeed showed the massive cloud plume.
The cloud amassed attention that Alaska State Troopers and the Alaska Rescue Coordinator Center instantly launched an investigation into a possible plane crash.
In a public statement, the Alaska State Troopers have since said: “There have been no reports of overdue aircraft or ELT activations indicating an aircraft crash. A rescue team on a helicopter flew a mansion around the Lazy Mountain area this morning and located nothing suspicious, and there were no signs of crashed aircraft.”
Theories have also run in the wild as people suggested it could be anything from a satellite to a meteor under the comments of the Palmer Alaska Buzz Facebook page.
One person, identified as Shannon Del Vecchio Watson, said: “Could it be a satellite? It’s so strange.” Another, Susie Kuke Martin, pointed out: “No wings.” While a third, Cassi Joi, posted: “Looks like a meteor. I wonder where it landed.” The suggestions went on as a fourth, Christy Hronkin Swift added: “We saw this on the way to school this morning as well. Very eerie!”
Thankfully, officials have offered a tamer explanation, claiming it was a contrail from a commercial jet.
They said: “Further investigation revealed that a large commercial jet was flying in that area around the time that the photos and video were taken. The aircraft was contacted and reported normal flight operations on its way to JFK airport in New York. Troopers believe that the photos and videos showed a contrail from the commercial jet combined with the rising sun, which caused the unique atmospheric sight.”
