Woman Left Her Husband Of 14 Years For A Stranger – Only To Be Ghosted

And now Twitter thinks she made the most horrible decision ever.

Amanda Trenfield from Australia was attending a three-day conference with her husband of 14 years. They came from Sydney and wanted to rekindle the romance in their marriage while spending time together in Margaret River, Western Australia.

They share two children together, and on the very first night, she met Jason, with whom she recalled having immediate sparks between them.

All that happened as their eyes met each other before she moved to talk with Jason on the very first night, believing he was her soulmate. She recalled the “free-flowing” talk they had and Jason inviting her and her husband for a drink later at night after the conference.

She recalled their talk at the “No Filter” podcast with host Mia Freedman, “It happened to be my favorite rose. And during the course of that evening, we just stayed talking … there was a depth of connection I just hadn’t felt before.”

The following day, she called Jason from the hotel’s phone and asked if he wanted to talk about their feelings in person. They met up while her husband was attending the conference. She recalled, “I opened the conversation with ‘I felt strange and very connected to you last night’, and he said he felt the same way.”

After “a few kisses,” they parted ways and never again. Everyone went back to their home.

She ended her marriage with her husband a few weeks after despite never keeping in touch with Jason. While Jason initially agreed to meet her, he later followed up with a cancellation, telling her that they should never meet again.

She continued, “He was there in those moments and felt the connection like I did. He felt the kiss like I did. But he decided to say no and move forward with his life without looking back.”

Amanda released a memoir based on this story titled “When A Soulmate Says No,” chronicling how she ended up with no man since leaving her husband for her “soulmate,” who also rejected her.

Twitter was baffled that she uprooted her life over a “one night stand” or a “stranger.”

One bewildered user wrote, “Never in my life have I encountered someone romanticising a one-night stand that *didn’t even happen*.”

“She was convinced they had a connection, but I see no evidence they did. She just projected onto a random dude because she was unhappy. Which we’ve all been there, but we don’t uproot our lives for it,” added another.

One commented, “Yeah, the “I ditched my husband kids of 14 years to live my life with you after meeting you once because you’re my soulmate” might have been coming on a bit strong, no wonder he said um, no.”

Another user made a crack on how her kids would be affected, “Therapist: so why are you here today. Kid: *SLAMS this book down on the table*”

But some remarked that it seemed like a “normal” thing to do.

One commented, “This seems normal and fine, maybe I’m missing something? Like, I get that it’s embarrassing to fall into limerence and get rejected, but is that worse than staying in an unhappy marriage?”

Another suggested that perhaps it was bound to end, “I don’t really find this embarrassing. She obviously hated her life, and the emotional zing of a crush was all she needed to end it all.”

“This seems normal and fine, maybe I’m missing something? Like, I get that it’s embarrassing to fall into limerence and get rejected, but is that worse than staying in an unhappy marriage?” reasoned another.
