Man Makes A ‘Stick Library’ For Every Dog At The Park

Giving dogs a delicious treat, providing squeaky toys as well as giving them a belly rub are things that undoubtedly make them happy always. On the other hand, do you know dogs also love Sticks?

Regardless – small or large, any dog can’t stroll past a good piece of wood without grabbing with their teeth.  Dogs find it satisfying to do, most especially when their owners throw sticks at them. If you have ever seen a dog with a stick, you’ll then know how excited they are about it.

Andrew Taylor, 59, knows about the aforementioned very well. And His four-legged furry friend’s excitements on seeing sticks did give him a brilliant idea. Taylor decided to develop a Stick library and place it in the park for all local dogs to borrow from and play with.

‘Our dog, Bella is a stick lover. She ripped to shreds any toys or balls.’ Tayla, who’s Taylor’s daughter explained. Living in Kaiapoi, New Zealand, Taylor has compiled quite a few sticks after trimming trees at the side of his home. He then sanded them in a bid to make them smooth and clean for the dogs. Taylor also proceeded to create a box in order to put in the twigs.

Tayla added: ‘When trimming the trees, my dad and I discovered a lot of dead branches and knowing from experience how difficult it can be to find a good stick, he got an idea that would help save sticks by putting them in some kind of box.’

Local dog owners, however, loved the simple and useful concept. ‘As individuals started arriving, there was disbelief of how simple the idea was. All the dog owners appreciated it as they all have experienced the good stick search.’ Taylor revealed.
