Kate Moss Says Johnny Never Pushed Her Down The Stairs
“He never pushed me, kicked me or threw me down any stairs.”
Kate Moss appeared as a witness for Johnny Depp during a stage of the trial known as a rebuttal, where he gets the chance to challenge Amber Heard’s allegations. The supermodel had been at the height of her career when she started her relationship with the actor, who was a teen idol, thanks to his roles in movies, including Edward Scissorhands.
The pair were known for their drink/drug usage and became known as the chicest druggist couple in LA.
Among their favorite hangouts was the Viper Room in Los Angeles, which Depp owed, and they had partied with the likes of Charlize Theron, Keanu Reeves, and even Jared Leto. Fast forward to 2021, at Depp’s defamation trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard, Moss has chosen to speak up about an alleged rumor from a Jamaica trip.
Appearing briefly via a live video from Gloucestershire, England, the supermodel shared with the court that throughout their relationship [1994-1998], Depp “never pushed me, kicked me or threw me down any stairs.”
Heard particularly opened the door to Moss’ testimony, claiming she feared the Pirates of the Caribbean actor would push her sister down the stairs amid a violent argument. According to the Aquaman star, there was a rumor the actor had once done the same thing to Moss, and it came to her mind. But in a twist, the model, who rarely discusses her life, has officially shut down the claim that the 58-Year-Old actor pushed her down the stairs.
When Depp’s attorney Benjamin Chew questioned Moss about the incident, she explained: “We were leaving the room, and Johnny left the room before I did. There had been a rainstorm, and as I left the room, I slid down the stairs. I hurt my back. And I screamed because I didn’t know what happened to me, and I was in pain.”
She concluded: “He came running back to help me, carried me to my room, and got me medical attention.” The couple had met when Depp was 31 and Moss was aged 20. The actor introduced the young Croydon model to art galleries, the joy of owning first-edition books, and his bohemian heroes, whom she adopted as her own. Inspired by Depp, Moss loved vintage looks straight out of Keith Richards/Anita Pallenber’s playbook, which helped form her style.
In 1998, Moss had hoped they would get married, but Depp dumped her at that point. A few weeks later, he then met with French actress Vanessa Paradis, and within three months, she was expecting his baby.
Moss couldn’t cope with the heartbreak. She went to rehab for the first time, and by her admission, she cried for years. While Depp got away, some people to date believe she’s still half in love with him. The model wasn’t among the ex-GFs who gave statements in the London case, which resulted in Depp being branded a wife-beater by the judge. Only Winona Ryder and Vanessa Paradis spoke up for him at the trial.
It’s likely Depp will get in touch with Moss to thank her, and from there, who knows what might happen.
Following the testimony, a source close to Heard reportedly said: “So Johnny Depp didn’t abuse Kate Moss. That makes him 1 for 2 in the abuse column. But, to date, he’s 0 for 1 in the column on the central issue in this case back when he lost the same case in England. And when the jury deliberates over the singular issue in this case, whether Amber Heard can exercise her right of Freedom of Speech, he’ll be 0 for 2, no matter how much his lawyers try to distract and divert the jury’s attention.
The court also witnessed Depp’s forensic psychologist, who insisted Heard had a personality disorder.
Dr. Shannon Curry claimed there were clear indications that Heard has a personality disorder despite the actress’ expert denying it. The psychologist said that Dr. Dawn Hughes [Heard’s forensic psychologist] had used checklists in her analysis that are not appropriate for forensic settings and are easily exploited. She then added that giving Heard a checklist of the symptoms was like teaching her all the little nuances to get that diagnosis.
“A person being evaluated will have a major incentive to benefit the outcome of their case. You always approach examinations with a healthy dose of skepticism,” Dr. Curry stated.
However, early Wednesday morning, fans waited in long lines to get wristbands for the trial. Some passed the time sleeping wrapped up in blankets, playing cards, or chatting with new friends. A few bided their time across the street before rushing into the courthouse lawn to secure a place in line when the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Department finally permitted them on the premises. Others who didn’t get in traipse eventually waited outside to see Depp as he arrived for court.
