Jon Gries Talks About What Actually Happened With Aubrey Plaza At SAG Awards
He was telling her to “look to the front.”
Jon Gries explained that apparently, Aubrey Plaza was just in her dry humor look mode on stage, and some people had thought she was being angry while on the stage at SAG Awards 2023.
The actor shared that he noticed that she and her colleagues were “being blocked by about 15 people” after winning the Best Ensemble.
If you know her, you know she loves being sardonic and has a deadpan face that cracks jokes. And Gries explained that she was “being funny” and added, “I think what she was intimating is why would that be a problem if my ni**le is showing.”
“That’s her humor — she has that dry, deadpan wit; that’s her biting wit.”
Gries also denied that it was because she didn’t get to talk because the whole cast had agreeed to have F. Murray Abraham if they ever go up on stage.
He explained, “We wanted him to speak; we all wanted him to. He’s F. Murray Abraham! He’s a frigging legend.”
And this all came after Gries personally texted Plaza to ask, “You weren’t really upset?”
“No! Not at all!” she replied.
The “Greg” actor from the HBO hit “White Lotus” shared with Page Six that after telling her to “look to the front” he told her, “You might want to fix that first.”
He was referring to her almost showing too much of her cleavage because of her revealing brown Michael Kors dress. And the 38-year-old might have mouthed “Jesus Christ”
While the viral moment had people thinking she was annoyed, Plaza looked like she had fun at the afterparty with the cast later at Chateau Marmont.
While her stylist explained that her dress was supposed to show a bit under her cleavage, Plaza joked that he’d saved her from a possible wardrobe malfunction on stage.
