Johnny Depp Says He Will Be Happy To Reprise ‘Captain Jack Sparrow’ Role At Kids’ Parties
“At this point,” he’s willing to perform in birthday parties.
The 58-year-old actor says that he’s happy to return to his role as Captain Jack Sparrow, even for kids’ birthday parties. After losing two of his major roles from Disney and Warner Bros. franchises, Johnny Depp hits Hollywood for boycotting his career after losing his libel case to The Sun.
Johnny Depp continued to be labeled a ‘wife beater’ against a case with ex-wife, Amber Heard.
He was invited to San Sebastian Film Festival to speak and shared, “The beauty of Captain Jack Sparrow for me is that I can travel with Captain Jack in a box, literally Captain Jack in a box, and when the opportunity is right, I’m able to go and visit people and places where the smiles and the laughs and the things that are important, the most important things in the world, are on the line.”
The man, who’s done reprising his roles in children’s hospitals, expresses his wish to return to his role, “So I still travel with Captain Jack, and if I have the opportunity, whenever I do, I will go to these places. I’ll go to somebody’s houseman; I’ll perform at your kid’s birthday party at this point!”
He continued to accuse Hollywood after finding out ‘Minamata’ is yet to be released in the US despite it being made available everywhere else. Depp portrays the main character, W Eugene Smith, in the movie that is based on the real story of a photographer fighting to reveal the truth about mercury poisoning near the coastal area of Minamata.
Depp told Sunday Times, “We looked these people in the eyeballs and promised we would not be exploitative. That the film would be respectful. I believe that we’ve kept our end of the bargain, but those who came in later should also maintain theirs.”
“Some films touch people. And this affects those in Minamata and people who experience similar things.”
“And for anything… for Hollywood’s boycott of me? One man, one actor in an unpleasant and messy situation, over the last number of years?”
After losing the libel suit against The Suns, Depp announces that he will fight against the ruling through an Instagram post, “The surreal judgment of the court in the UK will not change my fight, to tell the truth, and I confirm that I plan to appeal.”
He added, “My resolve remains strong, and I intend to prove that the allegations against me are false. My life and career will not be defined by this moment in time.”
Yet, he was not permitted an appeal against the ruling.
