Johnny Depp Reveals Amber Heard Was “Too Good To Be True” When They Started Dating

“For that year, or year and a half, it was amazing.”

The two had first met on the set of ‘The Rum Diary’ when sparks flew. Both were still in relationships and soon ended them for each other. They met in 2011 and tied the knot in February 2015 before making headlines with their divorce a year and a half later.

Depp testified under oath and recalled how their relationship started on the movie set.

The 58-year-old actor, who was with Vanessa Paradis from 1998 to 2012, spoke in the court, “It was as if she was too good to be true.”

“She was attentive; she was loving, she was smart, she was funny, she was understanding. We had many things in common, certainly blues music, literature. For that year, or year and a half, it was amazing.”

“From the beginning of our relationship for a good year and a half, she was wonderful,” the father-of-two continued. “And then things just started to change, or things started to reveal themselves, is a better way to put it.”

After their divorce in 2017, the ‘Aquaman’ star posted an op-ed in Washington Post and identified as the victim of abuse. While she never explicitly stated who the other party was, Depp was soon under fire and labeled a “wife beater.”

Meanwhile, their marriage counselor attested that they were in “mutual abuse,” and Heard coped with her childhood trauma by keeping the fight with Depp.

However, Heard had reportedly changed throughout the 18 months they stayed together.

Depp also recounted the time when they broke their “rule of routine,” which was her taking off his shoes and bringing a cup of wine for him. However, he took them off on his own one night because Heard was on the phone when he came back.

On the other hand, Depp had denied having ever been involved in any form of abuse towards her, “Never did I myself reach the point of striking Miss Heard in any way, nor have I ever struck any woman in my life.”

Depp filed a lawsuit against Heard for defamation from her Washington Post article that had caused him to lose jobs. Heard is currently set to return to reprise her role in ‘Aquaman 2’ despite outrage from people who want to boycott the movie.
