Johnny Depp Makes $4,000,000 In Hours By Selling His Debut Artwork
“My paintings surround my life. No one should ever limit themselves.”
Within hours of announcing the sale on Instagram, Johnny Depp earned $3.6 million from his art collection. The 59-Year-Old released a limited-edition collection of 780 pieces with individual images selling for $4,800 and a total portfolio of four images selling for $18,000.
The artwork was hinged on people he has known and who have inspired him as a person.
Seller Castle Fine Art described the pieces as each image being an intimate reflection of their character in Johnny’s eyes – a portrayal of how they have revealed themselves to him. It’s alleged the collection is also the intersection of Pop Art and Street Art and dubbed pop art with a feeling.
“I’ve always used art to express my feelings and to reflect on those who matter most to me, like my family, friends and people I admire,” Johnny wrote via the Castle Fine Art information page.
He added: “My paintings surround my life, but I kept them to myself and limited myself. No one should ever limit themselves.” Notably, the Friends & Heroes collection included pop-art style pieces of Boby Dylan, Elizabeth Taylor, Al Pacino, and Keith Richards. This comes after Depp had been awarded $10.35 million for damages after a lawsuit against ex-wife Amber Heard.
Most recently, the actress, 36, appealed for the award to be overturned but then was denied the request.
She argued that one of the jurors on the case shouldn’t have been eligible to serve because his summons was intended for his father, who had the same name and lived at the same address. Depp also appealed against the $2 million in compensatory damages he was ordered to pay to her. However, Depp suffered financial turmoil after his split from Heard and sold up a large portion of his property portfolio.
