Jennifer Aniston Slammed For Saying Hollywood Is Full Of People Who Are “Famous For Doing Nothing”
“It’s almost, like, it’s diluting the actor’s job.”
Jennifer Aniston has been flamed for the past week since her interview with Variety alongside Sebastian Stan. The 53-year-old ‘Friends’ star was asked about her opinion about how the idea of fame has changed throughout her time working in Hollywood.
As they spoke about Sebastian’s role, Tommy Lee, and the leaked tape of Pamela Anderson, Aniston injected her opinion that the early 2000s was when people could be famous for just being so.
“It was right at the time when the internet really shaped so much of a new culture about people becoming famous. This thing of people becoming famous for basically doing nothing,” she commented.
“I mean Pam, Paris Hilton, Monica Lewinsky, all those.”
“I feel so lucky that we got a little taste of the industry before it became what it is today.”
“More streaming services… you’re famous from TikTok, you’re famous from YouTube, you’re famous from Instagram. It’s almost, like, it’s diluting the actor’s job.”
But this comment doesn’t sit well with many others as they pointed out that Aniston was the daughter of two actors.
She is the daughter of Nancy Dow and John Aniston, known for his role as Victor Kiriakis in ‘Days of Our Lives.’
Users debated whether her opinion stands considering her background.
One user who agreed wrote, “She’s not wrong… the early 00’s was revolutionizing. You actually had to have talent.”
It was countered by another who pointed out, “You mean to had to be white and a part of the elite Hollywood club. What’s wrong with equal opportunity tho?”
“Cos back then black people didn’t have a choice. Hollywood dictated who was relevant. Now anyone can be relevant off sm, and it’s a problem.”
