“I’ve Just Made A Genuine Offer To Pay Off School’s Entire Dinner Debt ‘So Kids Don’t Go Hungry'”

“They could, but they didn’t.”

Man Behaving Dadly internet personality tweeted Ysgol Dyffryn from Penygroes, Gwynedd, Wales after hearing that students are made to starve if their parents failed to pay for the meals. The dad-of-four whose real name is Simon Harris offered to pay off their £1,800 (about $2,415) debt so students don’t go hungry.

He offered to pay after news came from the headmaster who told the cook to not feed students that haven’t paid up.

The headmaster Neil Foden took extreme steps after the school fell into debt due to parents not paying their students’ meal fees. The headmaster sent a letter to parents, writing that debts over one penny would mean the child wouldn’t be fed and parents have until November 19 to clear them.

The school that has over 450 pupils had garnered criticism from England footballer Marcus Rashford.

The MU player tweeted, “Has the pandemic not taught us anything? Can we not be understanding? Come on now…”

Foden explained that this was not the step they preferred to take, but they came to this after a lot of considerations. He explained, “We don’t want to tar everyone with the same brush, but realistically, those parents who can pay but won’t pay, something has to be done.”

“All I’m interested in is putting this rubbish to bed and getting the kids fed,” the man explained.

Harris told a local paper, “We could all sit here and argue about ‘parents who can afford it but won’t pay’ and ‘parents spending the cash on whatever else instead’ until the cows come home.”

“One problem at a time.”

Simon has also started a petition asking, “Extend Free School Meals To ALL UK SCHOOL PUPILS.” Over 10k people have signed for it.
