But travelers from Australia, Austria, Israel, and Mexico, were caught wandering through the ancient city in Rishikesh, where The Beatles sought spiritually at an Ashram. Vinod Sharma, a local police officer revealed they were each made to write ‘I didn’t follow the rules of pandemic lockdown so, I am sorry 500 times.’

Over 700 foreign tourists from the aforementioned locations residing in the area had breached the lockdown rules, Sharma admitted, adding that the weird punishment was to teach them a lesson.

Police went on to reveal they would direct hotels in the locality to permit foreigners to step out, only if guided by local aids. ‘The establishment that didn’t follow the rule could face legal action.’ Sharma added.

Accordingly, police have come up with an unfamiliar method to motivate people to stay home in a bid to prevent the spread of the virus, including putting on a pandemic-shaped helmet.

Officers in some states have also been seen in videos beating drivers on roadsides while making people out and about amid the lockdown to do leapfrogs and squats as punishment.
