Hiker Escapes From A Cougar Trying To ‘Escort’ Him For Six Minutes
Nobody is hurt.
Never a good idea to approach a baby that is not yours, whether that’s a human’s or a cat’s. A hiker recently had a direct encounter with a cougar which is pretty cool as they’re mostly known to avoid human and doesn’t attack without being actually aggravated. But this hiker got followed by one instead for 6 minutes straight.
The hike saw a few animals on the way back down the same trail he went up. He took out his phone to film and realized they looked like cats. The cubs ran away, and he soon noticed the cougar mom posing to threaten him.
Twitter Yashar Ali clearly explains that this mother’s stance is threatening unwanted presence around her family. Hence, the term ‘escorting’ was used. Big cats are known to be very protective of their little ones as well as very uninterested in making humans as dinner.
Others are also pointing out that it’s crucial to find out the underlying situation that stressed out the cougar.
Original footage shows the man taking out his phone to film the cubs and proceeds to walk back up when the mother appears.
Glad both are safe now. Mama cougar is back to her family, and our hiker is back from the dead. Although we’d rather this man focuses on actually fending off the cougar instead of filming the entire thing and instigate the mother more.
