Harry Potter Star Mathew Lewis Slams Air Canada After Staff Tore Up His First Class Ticket & Bumped Him To Economy
The Harry potter star, Mathew Lewis, had deemed Air Canada the worst airline in North America as he claimed they tore up his first-class ticket when he reached the gate and bumped him to the economy due to a full flight. The 33-Year-Old said he got no apology or chance to rebook his flight.
In a series of tweets, Mathew slammed the airline’s policy of overbooking flights to sell more tickets than available seats on a plane.
“Confirmed. @AirCanada is the worst airline in North America. And that’s saying something. No email. No offer to rebook. Literally tore my first class ticket up in front of me at the gate, gave me economy ticket and walked away. Not a single word. I had to call her back to ask umm why? Lol. Privileged problems sure. But still wild.”
The 33-Year-Old, who had played Neville Longbottom in the potter franchise, was flying from Orlando to Toronto.
He added: “I’ve been bumped before. I think it’s a ludicrous policy that we’ve inexplicably normalized but it is what it is. That said, that’s not my issue. I wasn’t told till boarding, no apology, no ask if like to rebook and if want a refund I have to call them. How we as a society allowed overbooking flights to become a normal thing we all accept is INSANE. Amongst so many insane things.”
Mathew concluded he could confirm his issue wasn’t sorted if it was any consolation.
Air Canada responded and urged Mathew to message them to try and resolve the problem, but the actor is yet to speak to a representative. The Airline said: “Hi Mathew, we regret hearing this. Please send us a DM with further details of the issue; we’ll see if we can help from here.” In an interview with CTV News Toronto, Mathew insisted we as a society should not be okay with normalizing the profiteering of overbooking & kicking people off flights.
He added: “Air Canada customer service is s***e.”
The airline also told the news outlet that the matter was under review and couldn’t comment further. However, Mathew was traveling to Toronto for a Fan Expo, where he offered signed autographs and photographs. He appeared to enjoy his trip as he later tweeted that the people in Toronto were all superb, and despite his long overdue visit, they didn’t disappoint.
