Guy Got His Day Ruined When He Found Out That Not Everyone Has Internal Monologue
Wait, you’re saying you don’t argue with yourself inside your brain?
The human brain is one impressive organ. It has the capability of controlling every other organ whether subconsciously or not. More amazingly, it defines who we are and while every human is the same, none is always really the same. The variety that is shown in humankind cannot be displayed in any other species that exist in this world.
It didn’t dawn, however, on Ryan Langdon that what is normal to him may not be the same to other people. He found out a not-so-fun fact that not everyone speaks to themselves… and he just couldn’t believe it.
The fun fact that ruined Ryan’s day.
Ryan wrote:
“My day was completely ruined yesterday when I stumbled upon a fun fact that absolutely obliterated my mind. I saw this tweet yesterday that said that not everyone has an internal monologue in their head,” wrote Ryan Langdon. He began asking around and the first person he talked to confirmed this.
That person, his classmate, said that she can’t hear her voice in her mind nor can she talk to herself.
Thankfully, most people do have ‘internal monologue that is running rampant throughout the day. However, every once in a while, someone would say that they don’t experience this.’
He also said that he was taking ibuprofen as he tried to comprehend how some people had ‘concept maps’ and ‘literal words’ in their brain instead of monologues. For 25 years, he never knew that people think differently.
In addition, when he said he could have a full-course conversation with himself while looking to a mirror, people began diagnosing him with schizophrenia. Someone even said ‘I wish that was a thing.’
Bro is missing out on a LOT of things.
Most of us are thinking of this right now.
Could this have came from kids’ ability to create an imaginative friend? Have these people not experienced that at all? Ryan wrote, “I was spiraling out of control. Well, as I write this and as I hear my own voice in my head, I am continuing to fall down the rabbit hole.”
