FIFA Apologizes For Ex-Model Fernanda Lima’s Dress While Hosting The 2014 World Cup Draw
That controversial FIFA gold dress!
FIFA invited Fernanda Lima for the World Cup draw in 2014 and provided the dress the ex-model was supposed to wear for the major event. The Brazillian actress looked stunning as she presented the show on live TV, but many have also slammed the outfit.
Adel Ferdosipour, a prominent Iranian TV presenter, spoke up, “To be honest with you, the dress of the lady who presents the show does not meet our broadcasting guidelines at all.”
FIFA responded and was forced to apologize over the issue, but not without providing assurance from the spokesperson herself, “FIFA is sorry to hear that anybody took offense of this, but on a personal note, as a woman, I would like to state there was nothing disrespectful about her dress.”
Meanwhile, the captain of the England women’s team, Casey Stone, shared her rage, but not due to the outfit worn at the event.
“Giving the job to a model has sent out completely the wrong message,” said the captain.
“Unfortunately, I wasn’t surprised. They could have had a woman high up in the game or else a player with proper international standing. This should have been about football.”
It was estimated that over 500 million people in 200 countries watched the show, with most people showing a clear positive or negative reaction to her dress.
