Elton Had To Stop Midway His ‘Farewell Tour’ From ‘Walking Pneumonia’

What does that mean?

Just recently, fans and attendees of ‘Farewell Tour’ in Auckland, NZ, were surprised to see Elton John having to step down the midway of a performance. The man later revealed in a tweet that he was diagnosed with walking pneumonia, but ‘was determined to give the best show humanly possible.’

Several people were pretty confused that the term ‘walking’ was added to pneumonia. The reason this term was coined is that the symptom of this pneumonia is lighter and sufferers usually don’t really notice and can still engage in daily activities normally as usual.

It is still the same lung infection where the fluid is filling the air sacs of your lungs. But this one is caused by Mycoplasma pneumonia and according to the CDC causes milder symptoms such as “being tired and having a sore throat, fever, and cough”.

People with walking pneumonia don’t have to be bedridden or hospitalized. The contagious disease can be spread from coughs and sneezes and is common on children and adults.

However, the American Lung Association (ALA) warns, “Walking pneumonia can still make you miserable, with cough, fever, chest pain, mild chills, headache, etc. It feels more akin to a bad cold, and despite what the term “walking” implies, taking care of yourself is the best path to recovery.”

In a sad tweet, Elton wrote, “I played and sang my heart out until my voice could sing no more. I’m disappointed, deeply upset and sorry. I gave it all I had. Thank you so much for your extraordinary support and all the love you showed me during tonight’s performance. I am eternally grateful.”
