These birds are easily recognized by their grey and black chest, bright red feathers and black beaks. They are short-tailed and can stretch nearly 50cm in length. Their weight is around 680-800g.
Males and females look quite alike – the only difference between them is that males have red patches around their ears. Compared to other parrot counterparts, the Dracula parrots don’t climb from once branch to another, instead, they enjoy jumping.

The Dracula parrots are among the three parrot species that have a featherless face and can be found in New Guinea.
The Only Difference Between Males & Females Is That Male Dracula Have Red Patches Around Their Ears
These birds are majorly hunted for their feathers, which are used for ceremonial dresses, cage bird trade, and meat. Recently, the IUCN Red List of threatened species evaluated these birds as vulnerable.
