Doctor Goes Viral After Questioning What ‘Losing Virginity’ Truly Means
Not a very useful term.
Dr. Jennifer Lincoln is a popular TikToker with more than 1.8 million followers, has gone viral with a video of her questioning what virginity really means.
She asked her followers to share their answers to what ‘losing your virginity’ means to them.
“Virginity is a social construct.”
After pretending to have waited for people to share their opinions, she came back on screen.
“The answer is… well, there is no one answer for what losing your virginity is,” the doctor answered, followed by references of different kinds of sexes people have.
She concludes, “There’s no one scientific definition of losing your virginity. That’s the point. No, Your hymen doesn’t matter.”
“And there’s also no such thing as a ‘virginity test.'”
The doctor shares that he hopes by sharing this video will help teenagers that often ask if they have lost theirs. Because society is fixated with how virginity equals purity, the doctor wants them to stop looking at virginity as a way to measure their worth. The key is not to let society tells you your worth but to define it yourself through consent.
