Dave Chappelle Under Fire Saying It Was A ‘Trans-Man’ Who Attacked Him On Stage
“Things have been getting worse for trans people and Dave encourages it.”
Stand-up comedian Dave Chappelle is currently slammed for making a joke after he was attacked on stage during his performance on Tuesday night. The 48-year-old told his audience after the perpetrator was arrested, “It was a trans man!”
Dave Chappelle’s show was interrupted by the man who carried a fake gun loaded with a knife during his stand-up for Netflix is a Joke festival.
Videos of the attack have gone viral around social media along with his comment, which did not go well with many. One criticized the man’s words and told him to “leave the trans community alone.”
Enraged Philadelphia Magazine journalist Ernest Owens tweeted that he’s not “going to feel sorry for that transphobe Dave Chappelle.”

Viewers are not happy with him trying to defuse the tension by claiming it was a “trans man” who attacked him.
The man who was arrested for the arrest was Isaiah Lee, 23, for reasons yet unknown.
The comedian’s quip was a reference to his own transphobic opinion from his last year’s Netflix special “The Closer” which also garnered many protests from people. He’s also taken support for author J.K. Rowling and declared himself a TERF (Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminist). The term is used for those who deny trans women who declare themselves as one.
Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos had declared his comedy as his form of art and refused to remove the special.
The comedian eventually spoke to the trans community in a video reacting to the negative comments, telling them, “I am more than willing to give you an audience, but you will not summon me. I am not bending to anyone’s demands.”
