It is no doubt a memorable one.

Pam and Jeremy Salda had it planned to tie the knot in a small Las Vegas celebration, but just as they landed at Dallas Fort Worth on April 24th, the pair found out their connecting flight had been canceled. As a result, the prospect of getting married that day seemed to crumble.

But thankfully, as the pair were riding high again to the destination through Phoenix, a passenger heard their issue and revealed he was an ordained minister who could wed them in the air.

Chris Mitcham, whose plane to Las Vegas also got canceled, booked tickets with the couple on Southwest Flight 2690 from Dallas Love Field Airport to Las Vegas via Phoenix. The Oklahoma-based were all dressed for the chapel, hoping they could rush straight to the alter from the airport. But instead, the Saldas got married at 37K feet in front of hundreds of strangers, who automatically became guests.

Just as she boarded the plane, Pam told ABC News the Southwest Captain questioned her if she would get hitched in Las Vegas.

Pam claimed; she responded, saying: “Well, we’re going to try, but if not, I think I’m just going to married right here on this plane. He said, ‘really? I was like Yes and he goes, ‘okay, we can do that. As soon as we kind of got up to the altitude, people started moving around. The flight crew, just spring into action. They’re taking toilet proper and making streamers at the front. They made Chris, the officiant, a little sash out of snacks packets and clip it together with cocktail spears.”

Reportedly, the crew set the mood by turning on the plane’s call lights and even played Here Comes The Bride as Pam walked down the aisle, accompanied by one stewardess as a stand-in maid of honor.

A few passengers got involved too. One had passed around a notebook that every passenger wrote in with their name, seat number, and a note for the newlyweds. Minister Chris, also a TV producer, used his video camera to capture the unique moment on film. Another had a spare donut to offer as a wedding cake, which Pam and Jeremy decided to split with each other.

While Southwest Airlines has since congratulated the newlyweds, they had provided drinks for the occasion.
