Congresswoman Dressed Up As Batgirl During Impeachment Voting And The Internet Is Divided
Would have dressed as a Batgirl renders her vote illegible? Doubt that.
People think politicians are too stuck up and can’t enjoy life as regular people do. It’s not about neglecting your job – it’s enjoying your life and making it less stressful for everyone else.
And that’s probably why congresswoman Katie Porter decided to show her Halloween spirit even during a crucial impeachment inquiry vote. She dressed up in a full Batgirl costume which clearly stole the attention of everyone that day.
When millions others decided to decorate their workplace, home, and showed up in costumes on Halloween, why shouldn’t politicians?
But while some were entertained with her getup, others did not see it as funny. It may have seemed ‘unprofessional’ as if Katie Porter was taking the voting lightly.
Some Republicans were outraged, saying she was ‘making a mockery of the House of Representatives’.
But, it’s Halloween.
Republicans couldn’t decide how Democrats should have fun.
Or maybe learn to take Halloween seriously.
While some people were outraged, congresswoman Katie Porter herself did not care much about what the Internet is fussing about. She tweeted, “Taking my work in Congress seriously doesn’t mean I take *myself* too seriously. To my kids Luke, Paul, and Betsy, I’m still just Mom—seeing the Bat-Signal on Halloween & putting on a goofy costume come with the territory. Stay safe trick-or-treating tonight, everyone!”
