Anheuser-Busch Loses $5 Billion After Dylan Mulvaney Bud Light Partnership
The controversial transgender with over 10 million followers shot back at critics who she said was “bullying” her.
Anheuser-Busch saw its market plummet by 4% after announcing its partnership with Dylan Mulvaney. The controversial influencer is appearing in their campaign for Bud Light and it didn’t take long for stockholders to pull back from the negative reception from people.
Bud Light’s parent company’s worth went from $132.28 billion to $127.13 on Wednesday. That’s 1.5% on Wednesday alone.
The 26-year-old transgender’s appearance in the campaign has not been well-received by especially conservatives, leading to a fallout. Mulvaney shot back at how she’s being treated like an “easy target” on the “Onward with Rosie O’Donnell” podcast.
“The reason that I think I am so … I’m an easy target is because I’m so new to this,” she spoke to the host. “I think going after a trans woman that’s been doing this for like 20 years is a lot more difficult. I think maybe they think that there’s some sort of chance with me … But what is their goal?”
“These people, they don’t understand me, and anything that I do or say then somehow gets taken out of context and is used against me and it’s so sad because everything I try to put out is positive. It’s trying to connect with others that maybe don’t understand me. It’s to make people laugh or to make a kid feel seen.”
To commemorate their partnership, she made a video showing cans that were specially made to represent her.
And as soon as the video came out, Kid Rock immediately came out with a video of himself shooting several cans of Bud Light with an assault rifle. The incident had even a local Missouri distributor canceling the Budweiser Clydesdale horse’s appearance.
If this continues, there’s a possibility that a full-blow boycott will follow in the near future according to industry experts. The backlash continues as Mulvaney’s other partnerships are also being targeted.
“Nike sponsoring Dylan Mulvaney now for a f**king sports bra,” said Megyn Kelly on “The Megyn Kelly Show” on SiriusXM. “I’m sorry, Dylan doesn’t have breasts.”
“Dylan’s been taking some sort of a hormone that has turned Dylan into some … I don’t know what’s happening there, but those are not breasts. And Dylan doesn’t need any sort of a bra — never mind a sports bra.”
Despite the falling prices, both brands have remained silent and stand by their partnership with Mulvaney.
