Transitioning from a male to female or a female to male requires two critical surgeries: the genital area and a procedure on the chest area. Each of these procedures goes for thousands of dollars. Exposing the devastating effect these costs, most of which aren’t covered by his insurance, can have, Adonis Zeigler, revealed he was forced to keep his breasts because he couldn’t afford the surgery to have them removed.

The 19-year-old recently spoke on the reality of transitioning as a poor person with no insurance.
The 19-year-old detailed how growing up in a low-income family prevented him from completing his transition, leaving him faced with cruel comments from trolls. In 2017, Adonis of Ohio started transitioning from female to male, but he’s yet to undergo any surgical procedures to change his physical shape. Most often, he’s faced with questions, and comments like ‘You have b**bs,” including ‘[What the f**k are you? And ‘I’m confused, why do you have a beard?’
He has insisted that not all trans people have access to life-saving funds.
Due to his b**bs situation, Adonis has been asked questions and comments like ‘[What the f**k are you?’
However, Adonis decided to respond to one of these questions via TikTok. In the clip, which has since gone viral, he explained he didn’t choose to keep them, referring to his b**bs, and added that: “I’m only 19. I’m poor, from a poor family, unemployed with state insurance. Not every [transmasculine] person gets lucky with privileged parents, supportive networks, or lucrative businesses to get top surgery young.”
In one of his TikTok, Adonis addressed a question from commenters: “Why did you choose to keep them?”
“I didn’t,” he responded. “I’m only 19. I’m poor, from a poor family, unemployed, with state insurance.”
Adonis continued: “Now stop f**king asking us unless you’re footing the bill.” The clip was captioned: “Real tired of this s**t. So far, it’s been watched over 4million times since shared earlier this month. In another clip, Adonis, who describes himself as a non-binary, responded to a viewer who asked he get to work. He claimed he was forced to quit his ‘abusive job’ because it had ‘inconsistent hours, pay inconsistencies and poor management.’
Adonis’ father had insurance through his job, which helped cover the hormone treatments until he was 17.
He insisted not every trans person is blessed with ‘privileged parents, or lucrative businesses.’
When he initially started transitioning at age 15, Adonis said he could take hormones because his dad had a union job, which was covered under his insurance. He shared: “We were still poor, but he had union benefits so I could get hormones. Until he lost that job. I haven’t been on hormones in several years.” In an interview with BuzzFeed, Adonis said the only reason his father supported his transition was that he was getting bad mentally.
He was asked to ‘get to work, but in another clip, Adonis said he was recently forced to quit his ‘abusive job.
