After 16 Seasons Of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, Justin Chambers Is Leaving The Show

These past 15 years, he’s been such a previous character.

The shocking news comes from Justin Chambers who’s leaving ABC Studios’ long-running medical drama ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ after 16 seasons, 15 years and 350 episodes. He was last seen on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ 350th episode that aired last November and that might just be his last episode ever.

Speaking to Deadline regarding his departure, James said, “There’s no good time to say goodbye to a show and character that’s defined so much of my life for the past 15 years. For some time now, however, I have hoped to diversify my acting roles and career choices.”

“And, as I turn 50 and am blessed with my remarkable, supportive wife and five wonderful children, now is that time,” he said.

The actor who plays Dr. Alex Karev also proceeds to praise showrunner and creator Shonda Rhimes as well as three other original cast members of the show. He added, “As I move on from ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, I want to thank the ABC family, Shonda Rimes, original cast members Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson and James Pickens, and the rest of the amazing cast and crew, both past and present, and, of course, the fans for an extraordinary ride.”

His character became loved by many due to how his seemingly dismissive manner towards other people was quickly compensated with his high skills in his specialty. Fans will definitely miss Justin Chambers, but it’s definitely one brave step he’s taken to leave his comfort zone.
