You Can Now Buy A LEGO Replica Of Your House
Talking about hobby-turned-business.
We’ve heard enough stories about how LEGO has grown into more than just kids’ play. Adults who take LEGO seriously can go full scale in making things, like constructing cars out of them. As someone who’s had her own pastime with LEGO can definitely confirm that it’s hard to do it.
Another hobbyist who has turned it into a business is designer Shari Austrian.
Shari has launched an ETSY shop that offers to recreate homes with LEGOs.
Shari is incredibly detailed in her work. Her price is $1.25/sq. foot. It’ll cost $2,500 for a 2,000-square-foot home, for example.
Shari has been a builder and landscaper since she was a little girl. She loves creating and collecting miniatures as well as building tiny homes with play-doh. She will even make landscapes out of the food on her dinner plate.
She loves to build these days with LEGO, which she thinks to be unfortunately costly. But she loves how LEGO is just so precise, clean and strong. She is a true perfectionist with OCD.
She began exploring LEGO again after she had children and is very much delighted with how the product line has expanded. Now, she recreates miniature houses based on the real ones.
She can do both with or without the interior and uses the architectural plans as well.
It takes her between 8 to 12 weeks to finish a house.
Shari loves working with LEGO due to the precision and strength of interlocking bricks.
Unfortunately, she had to share her horrible experience with UPS!
She tried sending out a model with UPS who assured them that they’ve delivered lighting fixtures safely. Alas, it arrived destroyed, making her having to fly to Tennessee to reassemble the model. She’s learned since then to only deliver through professional art handlers.
