Why Rebel Wilson Is Trying For A Baby By Herself Despite Being In A Happy Relationship

“I’m still young enough to try.”

Rebel Wilson has opened up about her wish to become a mom for quite a while now, sometimes sharing her feelings about fertility issues that she had. The 42-year-old’s change in lifestyle allowed her to shed pounds that changed her appearance.

Now healthier and in a relationship, Wilson shared that she’s been trying to have a baby – but weirdly enough, on her own!

She shared with Betches dating podcast U Up? last month that she was “happily in a relationship” with someone her friends set her up with. However, that doesn’t change her plan to have a kid and she described it as an “emotional rollercoaster”.

She told People, “I don’t know how it’s going to end. But I’m still young enough to try. Any woman who’s gone through it, I really relate to.”

Last year, she wrote sadly regarding the issue, “I got some bad news today and didn’t have anyone to share it with… but I guess I gotta tell someone.”

She revealed, “To all the women out there struggling with fertility, I feel ya. The universe works in mysterious ways and sometimes it all doesn’t make sense… but I hope there’s light about to shine through all the dark clouds.”

Rebel doesn’t detail how she might attempt this, whether she considers adoption or if she’ll have a donor. But Wilson is optimistic about the journey and accepts “whatever happens.”

She continued, “I would love to have a family. I’m just going for it by myself at the moment because of the biological clock.”

“If I meet the right person, great, and then they can fit in with whatever happens. It’s great that the technology exists.”

“You have so many options with surrogacy and sperm donors. I only started thinking of fertility when I was 39 so you feel quite late but then there are women in their mid-40s who’ve been successful. Look at Janet Jackson, it’s pretty inspiring.”

Back in 2020, she was diagnosed with PCOS, or polycystic ovarian syndrome, which affects her fertility. Her doctor advised her to leave a healthier lifestyle if she wishes to bear her own children and she began her journey, which included dealing with her emotional eating.

She doesn’t have a particular goal weight starting out, but she was focused on getting “the healthiest version” of herself. In total, she’s lost 80 lbs since she started her journey in 2020.
