Thandiwe Newton Won’t Be In ‘Magic Mike’ Sequel After A Heated Altercation With Channing Tatum Over Oscars Slap
“I am not working with her anymore.”
Actress Thandiwe Newton won’t be in the next “Magic Mike” flick after Channing Tatum drove off in his car in anger from debating with her. The 49-year-old is likely to be replaced by actress Salma Hayek, Variety reported.
The two celebrities got into an “unimaginably vicious” debate over the Oscars slap involving Will Smith and comedian Chris Rock. The debacle happening on the set was witnessed by the crew of “Magic Mike’s Last Dance” on the 11th day of filming.
A crew member shared, “Channing Tatum is the producer and number one on set. Thandiwe Newton is the #2 star. But 11 days into shooting, and it’s all over.”

“They fell out over the debacle at the Oscars. I was on set. I watched her and watched him. They were in and out of the house where we were filming having this confrontation. It was a tense exchange of words, but suddenly it escalated.”
“Channing got into this car, and he disappeared,” recalled the witness. Afterward, the actor had reportedly expressed his unwillingness to work with the actress moving forward. Even with Director Steven Soderbergh trying to be the middleman, the situation remains heated.
The crew member continued, “After the row, he just went, ‘I am not working with her anymore.’ Him being a producer, it’s his movie, so she’s off the movie.”
A spokesperson denied the incident and simply claimed she had “family matters” to deal with. The report reads, “Thandiwe Newton has made the difficult decision to step away from the production of Warner Bros. Pictures’ Magic Mike’s Last Dance to deal with family matters.”
The source had not forgotten to add that the actress was exuding a “diva” behavior around the set.
The third installment of the HBO Max film series comes after its two previous movies became a success, making $300 million worldwide.
