Selena Gomez Reveals She Battled With Low Confidence From ‘Unrealistic Beauty Standards’ Since She Was 10

Being in the public eye from quite an early age for Selena Gomez came with a lot of pressure. The singer found it difficult to feel comfortable, especially as she’s watched, judged, and had tons of people commenting on the way she looked. As a result, since age 10, Selena battled with low confidence, but that has eased now.
Selena Gomez is left with no choice but to work on her self-confidence daily.
Being in the public eye from age 10 for singer and actress came with a lot of pressure.
The 29-Year-Old has refused to try and conform to unrealistic standards of beauty. Speaking to Glamour UK, the Monte Carlo actress said it takes a lot of effort to feel good about herself. She added: “Self-confidence is still something I work on daily, but when I stopped trying to conform to society’s unrealistic standards of beauty, my perspective entirely shifted.”
And for that, she felt very much pressured to look her best for the public at all times.
However, she has recently told Glamour UK that she could not live up to unrealistic beauty standards.
Selena, the Rare Beauty Founder, has ultimately discovered it’s her differences that make her beautiful. She continued: “For the time I can remember, I’ve always felt like I had to be perfect or look a certain way. It took me a long time to realize that I only wanted to be myself – that what made me unique was also what made me beautiful.”

However, Selena has repeatedly accepted she doesn’t need makeup to look good.

The 29-year-old claimed wearing makeup in the industry so young left her ‘questioning’ her beauty.
But now, Selena has accepted that she doesn’t ‘need’ make-up to look good.
When asked about the beauty advice she would give her younger self, she replied: “I’d tell her that make-up is something to have fun with, but not something you need. I used to think I needed to wear makeup to feel pretty, and I can definitely say that has changed as I’ve gotten older.” Selena shared an experience with makeup fail [Too Much Self-Tanner], and it turned out it had transpired at the 2018 Met Gala.
