Support and acceptance are the two things people of the LGBTQ+ plead for. Since coming out as Non-binary, Singer Demi Lovato has claimed not everyone has been positive about their new identity. In an interview in early July, Lovato claimed it feels weird when they get called a ‘she or her.’

“I understand that people might have a hard time adjusting to it because it something new, but I want to encourage people to keep trying. I understand that it’s a process to get used to. Sometimes I still mess up myself, but it’s OK.” Lovato told BuzzFeed.
Lovato finds it weird when they are still referred to as a ‘she’ or a ‘her.’
They added: I’m still, every day, stepping more and more into the identity that feels right to me, which is my pronouns being they/them. People have been so.. well, most people have so wonderful, and that’s the reality of coming out. But I am grateful for the progress that my family members have made in using my pronouns – team members, friends.”

Lovato concluded, saying they love the conversation it has begun to spark while insisting they feel better than ever since officially changing pronouns to they/them. In a separate interview for YouTube Pride 2021, Lovato revealed they actually came out as nonbinary to their loved ones in 2020 and only recently decided to let the world in on their journey.

Back in May 2021, Lovato announced to the world that they are nonbinary. “Today is a day I’m so happy to share more of my life with you all. I am proud to let you know that I identify as non-binary and will officially be changing my pronouns to they/them moving forward.”
